I have been interested in images of tree trunks and roots as metaphors for personal groundedness, spiritual as well as physical strength and endurance, sensuality, and connection to the earth—all qualities I aspire to in my personal and artistic life. I have resonated and identified with this subject matter and I have used my paintings as vehicles to express my personal feelings and energy rather than depicting the trees literally.
